After the long day yesterday, we weren't in hurry to get up early and when we did, we decided on a route change for the following days. It also gave us time to do some much needed laundry. Overall it was a pretty lazy day.
After breakfast, we decided that we wouldn't head for a day trip to Monument Valley or to head west directly to Bryce Canyon the following day, but to have a recuperation day in Monticello. It's not much of a town, but it had a very efficient laundrette, so that became our first port of call. We also made a resupply of snacks and drinks at the local supermarket, Maverick! Whilst in the laundrette, we were amused to see two sheep stroll through the petrol station that was part of the supermarket.
Domestic duties done, it was lunch time and found a small delicatessen cafe called 'The Peace Tree'. This proved to be the best eatery in town and we had an excellent lunch sittiing on their patio. After lunch we all settled down to read and relax.
Later, we had the difficult choice of finding somewhere for dinner. The lunch-time choice wasn't open so we went to R & F's diner. This proved to be marginally better than the one we'd tried before, but still not fantastic. After that we headed back to the hotel and bed.
As a footnote, there was some confusion about the location of Monticello. We were in a very small town in south-eastern Utah. The town may well have been named after the far more famous Monticello, a plantation house built by Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the USA, near Charlotteville, Virginia. I don't have a picture of Monticello, Utah, but believe me it didn't look anything like the picture above!
